Emergent Well-being Initiative
The Vision:
The Emergent Well-being Initiative is a movement-building project dedicated to reforming and transforming traditional animal welfare, protection, and care spaces into a comprehensive well-being framework that equitably prioritizes people, pets, and place in society.
The Mission:
To provide thought leadership and project collaboration through advocacy and collective work to advance comprehensive well-being for humans, animals, and their environments to create a more equitable and sustainable humane world.
The Collaborators:
The Emergent Well-being Initiative is driven by experienced human and animal well-being and social justice professionals, advocates, and scholars committed to advancing equity beyond the traditional boundaries of animal well-being. Founding collaborative partners of the initiative include Johnny Jenkins, founder of The JyOba Project, and Sheila Donya Kouhkan, founder of Moving Mountains Solutions.
As the initiative grows, additional collaborators will be added. Additionally, as the critical aspects of The Emergent Well-being Initiative are established, intentional discussions will integrate long-term strategic planning through an advisory council to determine a sustainable path forward to further the initiative’s primary objective - to reimagine animal welfare, protection, and care as human-animal well-being.
